PM: Government Submits Business, Tax Reform Bills to Parliament

Cairo: The government submitted seven legislative amendments to parliament aiming at improving the business climate through customs and tax incentives, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Speaking at the launch of Egypt's Foreign Trade Information Portal, Madbouly expressed hope that the House of Representatives would approve the measures before June 30.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the proposed reforms were the result of extensive consultations with the business community and were designed to encourage investment, support exporters, and stimulate economic activity. These measures are part of a broader strategy to enhance Egypt's economic landscape by making it more conducive to both local and international businesses.

Madbouly emphasized that Egypt was targeting merchandise exports of around $100 billion by 2030. This ambitious goal is part of the country's efforts to narrow the trade deficit and bolster the economy's resilience against external shocks. The prime minister highlighted that these reforms are crucial for achieving sustainable economic growth and maintaining the country's economic stability.

The newly launched trade portal is expected to play a pivotal role in this strategy by providing exporters and investors with valuable market data and information. This tool is designed to help them access new markets, improve product competitiveness, and support export growth, thereby contributing to the broader objectives of economic development and trade enhancement.
