PM Follows Up on Progress in Renewable Energy Projects Implementation

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly reiterated the government's commitment to closely monitoring the progress of renewable and new energy projects, emphasizing the importance of these initiatives in Egypt's strategy to diversify its energy sources. This announcement was made during a meeting aimed at reviewing the latest developments in renewable energy projects.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mahmoud Esmat and senior officials from Hassan Allam Holding. Madbouly highlighted the crucial role of both international and domestic companies in supporting Egypt's ambitious renewable energy agenda, identifying them as key partners in realizing the state's strategy to harness the nation's substantial renewable energy potential. He stressed the need to accelerate the execution of agreements between the Ministry of Electricity and the participating companies.

Minister Mahmoud Esmat stated that the ministry is working on a national strategy to increase the contribution of renewable energy sources, improve energy efficiency, and speed up the rollout of new projects. Efforts are also being made to strengthen and modernize the national power grid to accommodate additional generation capacity. These initiatives are part of Egypt's broader sustainable development agenda, aimed at enhancing long-term energy security.

Esmat also emphasized the importance of expanding energy storage systems, describing them as vital for ensuring grid stability and maximizing the use of renewable energy resources. He reaffirmed the private sector's essential role in developing renewable energy projects and highlighted the ministry's commitment to encouraging greater private-sector participation.

During the meeting, the minister reviewed the implementation status of renewable energy projects, including progress rates, procurement schedules, and project timelines. He also outlined the projects being executed through the collaboration between the ministry and the consortium of participating companies.
