Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting on Monday, August 17, 2026, at the government's headquarters in New Alamein City: to follow up on progress on the national project to develop the Cotton and Textile Industries Holding Company (CTIHC).
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa, Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mahmoud Esmat, and Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh, who participated via videoconference. Other key figures included Hashem El-Sayed, Assistant to the Prime Minister and CEO of the State-Owned Companies Unit; Ahmed Shaker, CTIHC Chairman; and Saeed Arafa, Assistant Minister for Investment and Foreign Trade.
The Prime Minister emphasized the government's commitment to revitalizing the cotton and textile industry. The objective is to restore the global reputation of Egyptian cotton and bolster the private sector's involvement in its operation and management. The project aims to maximize the resources and potential of the sector.
During the meeting, El-Sayed and Shaker presented the latest measures to advance the CTIHC. These measures focus on reinstating Egypt's historic prominence in the textile industry by implementing the latest technologies and production methods. The initiatives are designed to enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian cotton products, explore new regional and international markets, and boost export levels.
