Egypt and Kuwait Urge De-escalation and Reviving US-Iran Understanding

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah emphasized the importance of de-escalating regional tensions and reinstating the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran. This initiative is seen as crucial for resuming diplomatic efforts and achieving a sustainable settlement to bolster regional security and stability.According to State Information Service Egypt, these remarks were made during a phone conversation between the two ministers, which was part of ongoing consultations and coordination regarding bilateral relations and recent regional developments. The ministers highlighted the significance of respecting state sovereignty and territorial integrity, along with the principles of good neighborliness and ensuring the security of international navigation.The ministers acknowledged the deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties between Egypt and Kuwait, applaudi ng the consistent development of bilateral relations across various sectors. They reiterated their commitment to strengthening cooperation and building on the existing momentum to benefit both nations and their citizens.Furthermore, discussions included the latest developments concerning the Palestinian issue and the Gaza Strip. Both ministers emphasized the necessity of implementing the commitments under the initial phase of President Trump's peace plan, adhering to the announced roadmap, and advancing to the second phase to foster stability, enhance humanitarian conditions, and pave the way for recovery and reconstruction.The ministers also asserted the importance of reaching a just and comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue based on the two-state solution. This would involve establishing an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
