FM: Egypt’s Foreign Policy Prioritizes National Interests, Security

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty stated that Egypt's foreign policy is guided by a balanced vision that considers national security and places national interests as its top priority. This statement comes amidst successive crises and rapid geopolitical shifts both regionally and internationally.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty made these remarks during a meeting with heads of Egyptian diplomatic missions abroad. The meeting was attended by ambassadors newly appointed to overseas positions, ministry officials, and heads of relevant sectors. It was part of ongoing efforts to enhance institutional communication with Egyptian missions abroad, discuss foreign policy priorities, review the performance of embassies and consulates, and explore ways to improve consular services for Egyptian communities overseas.

Abdelatty emphasized the crucial role of Egyptian missions abroad as a key pillar in implementing the country's foreign policy and protecting its interests overseas. He highlighted ongoing efforts by the ministry to refine its work system, reorganize structures, and enhance performance mechanisms to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

The minister also stressed the importance of training and developing diplomatic and administrative personnel through specialized capacity-building programs to ensure they can adapt to rapid changes in diplomatic work and address growing regional and international challenges.

Abdelatty noted the expanding economic role of Egyptian missions abroad, urging the need to intensify efforts to attract foreign investment, open new markets for Egyptian exports, increase trade, and promote Egypt's promising investment opportunities and potential. He reviewed state efforts to improve the business environment and enhance private sector participation in driving economic growth, underscoring the importance of utilizing the missions' extensive network of relations to support the country's economic and development priorities.

The Foreign Minister outlined Egypt's foreign policy priorities on regional and international issues, emphasizing the need for Egyptian missions to strengthen communication and coordination with host countries and decision-making circles and explore new avenues for cooperation to serve common interests and enhance Egypt's ability to respond to international developments.

In support of Egyptians abroad, Abdelatty stated that improving services for citizens remains a top priority for the ministry and its missions. He reviewed steps to modernize the consular system and expand digital solutions to streamline procedures and improve service quality. The minister instructed Egyptian missions to maintain regular, direct communication with Egyptian communities abroad, listen to their concerns and suggestions, and inform them of state and Foreign Ministry initiatives and services to strengthen their ties with their homeland.

The meeting also included an extensive discussion between Abdelatty and heads of Egyptian missions on proposals and ideas for improving working methods, strengthening coordination between diplomatic missions and various ministry sectors, and raising performance efficiency to meet current phase requirements. Discussions also focused on maximizing the impact of Egypt's diplomatic efforts and advancing the country's national interests.
