Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Mabouli met with Minister of Education and Technical Education Mohamed Abdel Latif to review the Education Ministry's plan to expand the Egyptian-Japanese schools network, which has grown to 69 schools following the opening of 18 new institutions. This expansion highlights the success of the initiative and the Egyptian State's confidence in the Japanese educational model, known for its focus on developing students' personalities and life skills.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdel Latif briefed the Prime Minister on his recent visit to Japan. During this trip, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to accredit a certificate for students who pass the 'TOFAS' exam, developed in cooperation with Hiroshima University, the Sprix Foundation, and the Ministry of Education. The minister emphasized that this step marks significant progress toward gaining international recognition for the educational competencies of Egyptian students.
Mohamed Abdel Latif also discussed the launch of the second phase of the National Program for Developing Arabic Language Skills (NPDA). This program aims to reach nearly half a million students in grades three to six across 1,000 schools located in ten governorates, including Minya, Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, New Valley, Qena, Matrouh, Luxor, Beni Suef, Port Said, and Dakahlia. The initiative seeks to enhance students' linguistic abilities, improve expression and reading comprehension skills, and support efforts to strengthen Egypt's linguistic and cultural identity.
The minister further briefed the Prime Minister on the outcomes of his field visits to various schools to monitor the educational process. Abdel Latif highlighted that these tours are conducted to ensure regular attendance, monitor the implementation of educational and administrative measures within classrooms, and directly assess the on-the-ground realities and needs of schools. Additionally, the tours aim to foster an engaging learning environment that promotes interactive education through play and activities, while reinforcing discipline and commitment within the school community.
