Cairo: Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation Rania Al-Mashat announced the launch of the second edition of the Narrative for Economic Development as part of Egypt's plan to forge a path for the national economy for 2030, according to a ministry statement.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the second edition, titled 'Policies Supporting Growth and Employment', was launched following a community dialogue that took place in September 2025. This dialogue brought together over 100 experts who focused on strategies to boost job creation and strengthen the national economy amidst changing regional and international conditions.
The new edition prioritizes human development as the key to economic progress. It aims to enhance the quality of life for Egyptian citizens and emphasizes the importance of adding value to sectors and expanding access to export markets to boost the Egyptian economy's competitiveness and enhance private sector involvement.
Furthermore, the narrative addresses the achievement of macroeconomic stability through fiscal and monetary policies. It highlights the strategic significance of the Suez Canal, proposes incentives for the real estate market, and discusses industrial development, local and foreign investments, foreign trade, the green transition, the non-banking financial sector, and labour market efficiency.
The narrative also outlines a comprehensive plan to meet Egypt's economic targets in all these areas. It sets performance objectives for each ministry and includes the implementation of the IMF-backed National Program for Structural Reforms (NSRP) under the IMF's Extended Fund Facility (EFF).
