Cairo: Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Hassan El-Khatib met with Minister of Commerce and Industry of Kuwait Khalifa Abdullah Al-Ajeel, who is also the president of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and his accompanying delegation.
According to State Information Service Egypt, El-Khatib began the meeting by reviewing Egypt's recent efforts to enhance the investment environment and competitiveness. These efforts are aimed at improving the country's ability to localize industries and attract supply chains, including the reduction of customs clearance times and the digitization of services and procedures related to investment.
El-Khatib noted that the current global economic disruptions present a significant opportunity for Egypt and other regional countries to attract supply chains and evolve into regional and international industrial centers. Egypt is actively working to localize industries within the automotive, technology, and clean energy sectors by bringing foreign expertise into the country and facilitating investment opportunities for local, Arab, and foreign companies.
He also emphasized Egypt's readiness to export services to Kuwait and strengthen the presence of Egyptian companies there. Furthermore, El-Khatib expressed interest in investing in Kuwaiti projects across various sectors, particularly in construction and real estate. He invited Kuwaiti companies to leverage the privileges and opportunities available in Egypt, along with the ongoing progress in investment and trade, to expand their investments in the country.
