Amman: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty affirmed Wednesday, August 5, 2026, that Iraq's stability is a fundamental pillar of Arab and Egyptian national security.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty made these remarks during a meeting with Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the "Arab Ministerial Committee Charged with International Action to Confront Illegal Israeli Policies and Measures in Occupied Jerusalem" in Amman, Jordan.

During the discussions, Abdelatty emphasized the deep-rooted relations between Egypt and Iraq, expressing Egypt's desire to enhance cooperation across various fields. He mentioned plans to hold the fourth session of the joint Egyptian-Iraqi Higher Committee in Cairo in 2027.

Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's firm support for Iraq's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while also rejecting any foreign interference. He assured support for Iraqi state institutions as they face political, economic, and security challenges.

The two ministers also reviewed the trilateral cooperation mechanism between Egypt, Iraq, and Jordan, highlighting it as a promising framework for regional integration. They emphasized leveraging the three nations' human and economic capacities, building on past achievements, and meeting their peoples' aspirations for shared development and prosperity.
