Amman: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, and Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein held a meeting on Wednesday of the Egypt-Jordan-Iraq Tripartite Cooperation Mechanism on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting on Jerusalem in Amman.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty underscored the strategic importance of the tripartite mechanism as an important framework for advancing regional integration and strengthening joint Arab action. He highlighted the opportunities it provides to utilize the capabilities and resources of the three countries in support of their shared interests.

He emphasized the need to translate the political vision of the leaders of Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq into tangible projects across key sectors, including infrastructure, trade, industry, energy, electricity interconnection, agriculture, and transportation.

He also emphasized the importance of implementing the outcomes of the mechanism's technical committees to further enhance economic and development cooperation.

The three ministers exchanged views on regional developments of common concern, particularly the Palestinian issue, stressing the need to intensify Arab and international efforts to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with Al Quds (occupied East Jerusalem) as its capital.

Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's continued support for the tripartite cooperation mechanism, stressing its role in enhancing coordination among Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq and contributing to regional security, stability, and sustainable development.
