Cairo: Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, welcomed key representatives from the American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo, including Mr. Omar Mohanna, Chairman of the Board, and Eng. Tarek Tawfik, former Chairman and current Board Member. The meeting underscored the pivotal economic partnership between Egypt and the United States, which serves as a foundation for their strategic bilateral relationship.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions highlighted the significance of bolstering economic, trade, and investment collaboration with the United States. Dr. Abdelatty pointed out the success of the Egyptian-American Economic Forum held in Cairo in May 2025, which saw active participation from leading American companies and reinforced cooperation between the two nations' governments and private sectors.
The Foreign Minister expressed his eagerness for the upcoming second edition of the Egyptian-American Economic Forum, slated for the first half of 2026. This event is anticipated to enhance institutional cooperation between the business communities of both nations and create new avenues for investment partnerships.
Dr. Abdelatty also emphasized Egypt's competitive edge for investors, highlighting its strategic geographic location, advanced infrastructure, and the extensive network of free trade agreements and regional supply chains. These factors position Egypt as a vital hub for accessing African, Middle Eastern, and European markets.
Looking ahead, Minister Abdelatty stressed the importance of expanding connections between the Egyptian and US business communities in various promising sectors, including industry, logistics, energy, digital infrastructure, pharmaceuticals and healthcare systems, and tourism. Such expansions are expected to attract new investments, increase exports, and generate job opportunities across diverse fields.
