FM Meets Counterparts at Africa-France Summit to Discuss Regional and African Issues


Nairobi: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held meetings with a number of foreign ministers participating in the Africa-France Summit, currently taking place in Nairobi. Abdelatty exchanged views with Musalia Mudavadi, Prime Cabinet Secretary of Kenya and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, and France’s Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-No«l Barrot, on a number of regional and African issues of mutual interest.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the meetings focused on supporting peace, security, and stability across the African continent, enhancing economic integration, and coordinating positions on various issues on the African and international agendas. Abdelatty also discussed with his counterparts from Sierra Leone, Liberia, Namibia, and Nigeria ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and these countries, drawing on the positive momentum witnessed in ties during the recent period.



The discussions were part of a series of meetings held on the sidelines of the Africa-France Summit. Abdelatty engaged with Sierra Leone’s Foreign Minister Alhaji Musa Kabba, Liberia’s Foreign Minister Sara Beysolow Nyanti, Namibia’s Foreign Minister Selma Ashipala-Musavyi, and Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Bianca Ojukwu. The meetings addressed opportunities for expanding cooperation in political, economic, and developmental fields, in addition to exchanging views on African issues of mutual interest.
