Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's commitment to close cooperation with UNESCO during a meeting on Friday with UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany on the sidelines of the African Union summit.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's dedication to investing in education and culture as foundational elements of sustainable development, appreciating UNESCO's vital role in preserving cultural and human heritage, improving education quality, and enhancing capacity-building, especially in light of global challenges.
The meeting explored strategies to advance collaborative projects in cultural heritage protection, promote technology and innovation in education systems, and support youth empowerment and capacity-building initiatives. Discussions also included Egypt's national efforts to conserve archaeological and heritage sites and improve cultural infrastructure, showcasing the richness of Egyptian civilization and its impact on global heritage.
El-Enany lauded Egypt's active partnership in promoting UNESCO's goals, acknowledging its contributions to education, culture, and science. He reiterated UNESCO's commitment to strengthening cooperation with Egypt in areas of shared interest to support the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, encourage dialogue among civilizations, expand inclusive education opportunities, and promote values of peace and mutual understanding regionally and internationally.
