FM, EU Commissioner Discuss Bilateral Ties on Phone Call

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, Badr Abdelatty, and the European Commissioner for the Mediterranean Dubravka ‚¬Å¡¬€¦¡¬¦ evic discussed on a telephone call ongoing coordination and consultation to strengthen relations between Egypt and the European Union.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Badr Abdelatty commended the remarkable progress in Egyptian-European relations, emphasizing that the first Egyptian-European Summit, held on October 22nd, provided a significant boost to the joint cooperation process, particularly regarding the implementation of the six pillars of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides.

Badr Abdelatty also stressed the importance of building upon the summit's outcomes, expressing his aspiration to further enhance economic, investment, and trade cooperation with the European Union across various sectors.

The Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty also welcomed the launch of the Mediterranean Charter at the end of November, which aims to promote integration among Mediterranean countries, address shared challenges, and capitalize on economic, social, and cultural opportunities. In this context, he emphasized the importance of facilitating Egyptian exports' access to European markets, developing legal migration pathways, linking migration to development, and addressing the root causes of irregular migration. The call included an exchange of views on the Mediterranean Charter Action Plan, with Minister Abdelatty presenting Egypt's vision for the Charter, along with several proposed projects and initiatives within this framework.

The Foreign Minister also briefed the European official on the latest developments regarding various regional issues and Egypt's efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region.

Regarding developments in the Gaza Strip, Minister Badr Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's efforts to implement the requirements of the second phase of the US President's plan, emphasizing the importance of moving to the next phase, which includes announcing the formation of a temporary Palestinian technocratic committee to manage the daily affairs of citizens in the Strip, and the establishment of an international stabilization force.

Badr Abdelatty also outlined the efforts underway to ensure the flow of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid in the necessary quantities and to create the necessary environment for the start of early recovery and reconstruction.

Badr Abdelatty stressed Egypt's rejection of any practices that would undermine the unity of the Palestinian territories or divide the Gaza Strip.
