Cairo: Ahmed El-Sobki, Head of the Egypt Healthcare Authority (EHA) and General Supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, has overseen the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the EHA and Orchidia Pharmaceutical Industries Company. The MoU marks a collaboration to establish a comprehensive ophthalmology training program at hospitals under the Universal Health Insurance initiative.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the MoU was signed by Amir El-Telwany, the EHA's executive director, and Karim Osama Abbas, a member of Orchidia's Board of Directors. The ceremony saw participation from several executive officials from both entities, showcasing a united front in advancing medical skills and innovation within Egypt.
El-Sobki highlighted the objective of the partnership with Orchidia, which is to create a cohesive system for ongoing medical education in ophthalmology and eye surgery. The training initiative will feature hands-on sessions and the latest surgical techniques. Involving professors, consultants, and experts, the program aims to elevate the proficiency of medical personnel across all governorates.
He further emphasized that this collaboration is a pivotal component of the authority's broader strategy to enhance human capacity and develop doctors' skills both scientifically and practically. The initiative is expected to significantly improve healthcare services and uphold quality and excellence within the Universal Health Insurance framework.
Karim Osama Abbas, CEO of Orchidia, expressed strong support for the partnership with the EHA. He affirmed Orchidia's dedication to advancing community awareness projects on eye diseases and bolstering continuous medical education programs. Abbas stressed that the company's expertise and resources will be fully committed to ensuring the success of the training program and achieving its objectives.
Under the MoU, the parties will introduce the 'Step by Step' training program, which combines theoretical and practical workshops. These workshops will cover vital ophthalmology specialties, including eye emergencies, corneal diseases, uveitis, cataract surgeries, strabismus, pediatric ophthalmology, and glaucoma. The program is designed to furnish doctors with cutting-edge scientific knowledge and practical skills, thereby enhancing the quality of patient care.
