Cairo: The Egyptian Customs Authority celebrated World Customs Day with a focus on enhancing trade facilitation and economic competitiveness. Sherif El-Kilany, Deputy Minister of Finance for Tax Policies, highlighted ongoing efforts to reduce customs clearance time and costs, emphasizing the role of modern technology in achieving these goals.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Yasser Sobhi, Deputy Minister for Fiscal Policies, reiterated the commitment to strengthening the governance of economic activities. He stressed the importance of simplifying procedures for the business community to ease import and export burdens, thereby supporting the localization of industry and expanding Egyptian exports in global markets.
Ahmed Amwi, Head of the Egyptian Customs Authority, emphasized continued coordination with state entities to promote governance and facilitate business operations. He noted that these efforts aim to protect and stimulate the Egyptian economy through customs facilitation and market-regulating controls, ultimately bolstering production, exports, and broader economic activity.
In recognition of their hard work and dedication, several distinguished staff members of the Customs Authority were honored during the celebration.
