Cairo: Egypt won the membership of the Executive Board of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the 2025-2029 term, representing the Arab group. The elections took place on Friday, November 7, 2025, during the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, marking another milestone in Egypt's continued success on the international stage.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Egypt secured 114 votes from member states, a clear testament to the strong confidence and respect it enjoys within the international community and to its active role in advancing education, science, and culture worldwide.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour stated that the win builds on Egypt's recent UNESCO successes, including Khaled El-Enany's election as Director-General, backed by 55 member states in October. This achievement reflects Egypt's growing international stature and integrated approach to sustainable development and global cooperation.
