Egypt Promotes Local Products in Accra Through ‘Taste of Egypt’ Event

Accra: The Egyptian Commercial Office in Accra organized a special promotional event titled 'Taste of Egypt' to highlight Egyptian products in the Ghanaian market, in coordination with the Embassy of Egypt in Ghana and in partnership with Palace Hypermarket, one of Ghana's largest retail chains. The event, led by Minister Plenipotentiary for Commercial Affairs Nesreen Wahish, featured dedicated displays of Egyptian goods presented in a visually attractive format, accompanied by food-tasting stations offering samples of traditional Egyptian cuisine.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the initiative also drew on the global cultural momentum surrounding the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum by incorporating elements of Egyptian heritage throughout the venue. The Egyptian Ambassador to Ghana, along with several Arab ambassadors, toured the exhibition and interacted with Ghanaian customers and members of the Arab community in Accra.

The promotional day forms part of the Egyptian Commercial Service's (ECS) wider strategy to expand the presence of Egyptian products in African markets and boost national exports, particularly high-quality food products that are increasingly in demand in Ghana. Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Abdelaziz El-Sherif, First Undersecretary and Head of the Egyptian Commercial Service, stressed that the 'Taste of Egypt' event reflects Egypt's commitment to broadening its footprint in West Africa and opening new avenues for trade.

He noted that bilateral trade between Egypt and Ghana reached $305 million in 2024, including $296 million in Egyptian exports, while exports of fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables totalled $2.4 million.
