Cairo: Egypt is preparing to host the prestigious Artistic Gymnastics World Cup for men and women at the Cairo International Stadium Indoor Hall, an event that will continue until April 6. This development comes following a significant meeting between Minister of Youth and Sports Gowhar Nabil and Morinari Watanabe, President of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). The meeting also included Ihab Amin, President of the Egyptian and African Gymnastics Federations and a member of the FIG Executive Committee.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Nabil underscored Egypt’s expanding role in international sports governance during the meeting. He highlighted the country’s capability to host major global competitions, thanks to its world-class sports facilities and solid infrastructure. The minister pointed out the support from political leadership, which has enabled Egyptians to secure senior positions in both international and continental sports federations.

is complete confidence in Egypt’s ability to host top-tier gymnastics competitions. He emphasized Egypt’s sports infrastructure, indicating it as a key factor that assures successful organization of the event. Watanabe’s sentiments were echoed by Ihab Amin, who noted Egypt’s unique position as the only country with five individuals holding influential roles within the International Gymnastics Federation.
The championship will feature 128 athletes from 33 countries, with Egypt fielding 10 male and female gymnasts. Some of the participating countries include Algeria, Armenia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Spain, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Norway, New Zealand, Panama, the Philippines, Qatar, Slovenia, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine, India, and Cameroon.
