FM Discusses with Russian Deputy PM Ways to Enhance Strategic Partnership


Moscow: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, discussed with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk ways to enhance the strategic partnership between the two countries during his official visit to Moscow. Abdelatty emphasized the importance of developing bilateral cooperation to achieve mutual interests.



According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty praised the momentum in bilateral ties, driven by major projects such as the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant and the Russian Industrial Zone in the Suez Canal Economic Zone. The discussions also touched upon cooperation in areas like grains, tourism, energy, and culture.



Abdelatty expressed appreciation for Overchuk’s visit to Cairo in September 2025 and looked forward to accelerating joint projects, with a focus on the actual operation of the Russian Industrial Zone. He hoped that joint working groups would stimulate Russian investments by initiating technical studies and infrastructure preparation.



Regarding trade, the minister valued cooperation in importing wheat, grains, and oils from Russia and aimed to explore Russian participation in creating a grain logistics center in Egypt. On tourism, he noted the increase in Russian tourists and stressed the need to increase direct flights and tourism coordination.
