Tripoli: Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, participated in the closing session of the inaugural conference of Chiefs of Staff from Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan countries, held in Libya. The conference focused on enhancing military and security cooperation among the participating nations to boost regional security and stability, protect common interests, combat irregular migration, and fight terrorism, all within the boundaries of international law and state sovereignty.
According to State Information Service Egypt, during the visit, Lieutenant General Khalifa met with Lieutenant General Khaled Haftar, Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces. The meeting involved delegations from both countries and concentrated on expanding prospects for bilateral military cooperation. The Chief of Staff of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces praised Egypt's participation in the conference, underscoring Egypt's crucial role in supporting regional security and stability.
On the sidelines of the conference, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, and Lieutenant General Saddam Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief, also met with Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa. They acknowledged the strong military cooperation between the Libyan and Egyptian Armed Forces.
At the end of the official visit, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa and his delegation returned to Egypt, where they received an official reception, complete with a guard of honor and performances of the national anthems of both countries by military bands. The Chief of Staff highlighted the historical ties between the two nations and the alignment of their military relations, which serve the mutual interests of both countries.
