Istanbul: Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir met on Friday with Turkish Vice President Cevdet Yilmaz to discuss strategies for strengthening bilateral ties and advancing cooperation in the areas of transport, logistics, and international corridors.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting occurred during the Fifth Turkey Maritime Summit in Istanbul. During their discussions, el Wazir extended greetings from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Turkish populace. He also praised Turkey for the successful organization of the summit, highlighting its excellent arrangement and significant international participation, which he noted as a testament to Turkey's growing influence in the maritime transport sector.
El Wazir emphasized that the relations between Egypt and Turkey are progressing rapidly, spurred by the shared political will of both nations' leaderships. This has opened up new prospects for economic and investment collaboration, particularly in transport and logistics, which ultimately serves the mutual interests of both countries' citizens.
The minister further noted that cooperation between the two countries has entered a new and more effective phase, especially following the signing of a cooperation agreement focused on international corridors and logistics services. He described this agreement as a strategic move to enhance connectivity, boost trade flows, integrate supply chains, and leverage the strategic geographic positions of both Egypt and Turkey as pivotal regional and global trade hubs.
Vice President Yilmaz reciprocated with greetings from President Erdogan to President El Sisi and expressed gratitude for the Egyptian delegation's participation in the summit. El Wazir reaffirmed Turkey's commitment to broadening cooperation with Egypt across various sectors, particularly in transport and logistics, to support sustainable development and solidify their roles as regional trade and transport hubs.
