Cairo: Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sewilam affirmed that operations to immediately remove all encroachments on the Nile River and its two branches are continuing, in coordination with state and security agencies, governorates, and other relevant authorities. Sewilam received a report from Head of the Nile River and Branches Development and Protection Sector Abu Bakr El-Rouby on the latest developments under the National Project for Regulating the Nile River and its Branches, as well as ongoing efforts to remove violations as part of the 30th nationwide campaign.According to State Information Service Egypt, the report detailed that 186 encroachments have been removed under the national project, bringing the total number of removals carried out so far to 1,024. Meanwhile, operations under the 30th campaign are continuing, targeting 2,813 encroachments.Sewilam stressed that work under the national project will continue without interruption alongside the 30th campaign, with the aim of rest oring order to the waterway, preserving the Nile's watercourse, and enhancing its capacity to accommodate water flows. He also directed the continued monitoring of the Nile and its branches and decisive action against any violations detected, including taking the necessary legal measures against offenders.The minister emphasized the importance of preventing removed encroachments from returning and maintaining the protection of the Nile and its branches from all forms of violation. The operations are being carried out in line with state directives to remove all encroachments on the Nile, protect the river as a vital lifeline, safeguard state resources, and preserve the rights of future generations.
