Egypt and Qatar Advocate for US-Iran Nuclear Talks Resumption

Cairo: Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, alongside Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, have called for the establishment of favorable conditions to resume dialogue between the United States and Iran concerning the latter's nuclear program. The ministers underscored the importance of diplomatic efforts to facilitate discussions aimed at achieving a comprehensive resolution that considers the interests of all stakeholders and enhances regional and international security and stability.

According to State Information Service Egypt, during a phone conversation on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the two leaders emphasized the significance of the dialogue in fostering a peaceful settlement. They also highlighted the strengthening relations between Egypt and Qatar, expressing their commitment to further develop their bilateral ties. This includes expanding cooperation in areas such as investment, trade, and the exchange of expertise, which is anticipated to benefit both nations.

The discussion also covered broader regional issues, with both ministers expressing their concerns over ongoing developments. They advocated for intensified efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, aiming to prevent new waves of instability and promote an environment that supports sustainable political and diplomatic resolutions.
