Egypt and Oman Call for Intensified Efforts to Mitigate Regional Tensions

Cairo: Egypt's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates' Affairs Badr Abdelatty and Omani counterpart Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi have jointly emphasized the urgent need to contain regional tensions. During a phone conversation on January 28, 2026, the ministers stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve calm in the region and avoid new waves of instability.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the two diplomats highlighted the necessity of creating an environment conducive to diplomatic solutions and sustainable political settlements to enhance regional security. They reviewed the latest developments concerning the Iranian nuclear file, reaffirming their commitment to diplomatic avenues. Both ministers called for conditions necessary to resume dialogue between Washington and Tehran, aiming for a comprehensive political settlement that considers the interests of all parties involved, thereby contributing to regional and international security and stability.

The discussion also underscored the positive momentum in Egyptian-Omani relations. Expressing pride in the historical and fraternal ties between the two nations, the ministers committed to elevating joint cooperation across various sectors and promoting investment opportunities to serve mutual interests.
