Sisi made these remarks during a meeting with Colombian President Gustavo Petro, attended by Egyptian and Colombian foreign ministers, as noted by Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy.
According to State Information Service Egypt, President Sisi emphasized the importance of joint coordination with Colombia in international forums, especially concerning Sustainable Development Goals and related development challenges. The meeting focused on potential cooperation in sectors such as trade, renewable energy, aviation, and culture. Both countries are also exploring ways to exchange expertise in combating transnational organized crime and terrorism.
Colombian President Petro acknowledged the strengthening bilateral ties and the increase in trade volume over the past five years. He congratulated President Sisi on the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, recognizing it as a historic achievement and expressing admiration for Egyptian civilization. The leaders also discussed regional developments, with President Sisi highlighting outcomes from the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit and the Gaza ceasefire agreement. Colombia's humanitarian aid initiative for Gaza was praised by President Sisi.
The Colombian president lauded Egypt's efforts under Sisi's leadership to end the war in Gaza and called for the full implementation of the ceasefire and expedited reconstruction efforts. President Sisi announced Egypt's plan to host the International Conference for Early Recovery, Reconstruction, and Development of Gaza in November.
