Deputy Health Minister Continues Matrouh Tour to Improve Primary Healthcare, Reduce Cesarean Section Rates

Matrouh: Deputy Health and Population Minister Abla El-Alfi stressed the importance of training family physicians to provide services for all age groups through a flexible program based on a specialized diploma, on-the-job training, and regular assessments. She also emphasized expanding cooperation with Alamein International University and the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport to train medical students at ministry facilities.According to State Information Service Egypt, the Deputy Health Minister made these remarks during a field visit to Matrouh governorate. The visit aimed to hold meetings with health officials and heads of obstetrics and gynecology departments and inspect healthcare facilities. The focus was on monitoring efforts to develop primary healthcare, enhance maternal and child health services, reduce cesarean section rates, and improve the overall quality of care.During a meeting with officials from Matrouh Health Directorate, Alfi reviewed the ministry's integrated healthcare development strategy. This strategy aims to provide a comprehensive package of services through primary healthcare units in line with international standards. The package includes newborn care, the first 1,000 days program, nutrition, childhood diseases, school and adolescent health, violence prevention, reproductive health, family planning, elderly care, and mental health services under a unified system.
