Cairo: Rwandan Ambassador to Egypt Dan Munyuza has reaffirmed Rwanda's commitment to supporting peace and stability in the Great Lakes region. He emphasized the need to address the root causes of the crisis in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, including dismantling armed groups driven by genocidal ideology and rejecting all forms of genocide ideology.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Munyuza made these remarks during a ceremony hosted by the Rwandan embassy in Egypt. The event, which marked the 32nd anniversary of Rwanda's Liberation Day (Kwibohora 32), took place on Saturday evening. It was attended by senior officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business leaders, academics, media representatives, members of the Rwandan community, and friends of Rwanda.
Munyuza highlighted that Liberation Day is a significant milestone in Rwanda's history. He pointed out the transformation from a nation torn by division and conflict into a model of stability and development. This transformation, he noted, has been achieved under the leadership of President Paul Kagame, through national unity, good governance policies, and the resilience of the Rwandan people.
The ambassador extended an invitation to the attendees to visit Rwanda to explore its investment opportunities, advanced innovation ecosystem, and world-class tourism attractions. He also expressed appreciation for the Rwandan community in Egypt for its role in strengthening the ties of friendship between Rwanda and Egypt.
Assistant Egyptian Foreign Minister for African Affairs, Ambassador Karim Sherif, who was the guest of honor at the celebration, praised Rwanda's achievements in recovery, reconciliation, and development over the past three decades.
The celebration also featured performances by a traditional Rwandan dance troupe, showcasing Rwanda's cultural heritage and the values of unity and heroism.
