Cairo: The Egypt-US joint military exercise Bright Star 2025, running until September 10, has seen the participation of 44 allied and partner nations, alongside several naval and air force installations, at the Mohamed Naguib Military Base.According to State Information Service Egypt, Egypt's military spokesman said the training activities have included live-fire drills from multiple firing positions, designed to enhance the operational readiness of the participating forces. A series of short tactical courses was also conducted, covering key areas such as improvised explosive device countermeasures, battlefield first aid, medical evacuation procedures, and counter-drone operations.Additionally, a command post exercise was conducted to enhance the exchange of expertise, streamline information sharing, and develop command decision-making under simulated combat conditions. Field training exercises remain central to the programme, with air force units executing sorties focused on joint air superiority.At th e same time, naval forces carried out diverse missions, including the right of visit and inspection of suspect vessels, as well as chemical decontamination drills to strengthen preparedness for potential unconventional warfare. The spokesman added that the Egyptian Armed Forces' General Command continues to oversee the precise planning and execution of all activities.Bright Star 2025 reinforces multinational military cooperation and remains one of the region's largest and most comprehensive joint land, naval, and air exercises. Egypt and the United States have launched the 19th edition of the Bright Star joint military exercise, one of the largest drills in the Middle East. It involves over 8,000 troops from 14 countries, with an additional 30 states participating as observers.Bright Star 2025 also features the involvement of the Egyptian civil police, representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and NATO. The exercise reflects the longstanding defense partnership between Egypt and the United States and strengthens Cairo's ties with a wide array of international partners.
