126th “Zad Al-Izza” Convoy Enters Gaza to Deliver Aid to Palestinians

Rafah: The 126th convoy of humanitarian aid trucks entered Gaza on Wednesday morning, January 28, 2026, through Rafah terminal in North Sinai governorate, en route to the Karam Abu Salem crossing for delivery into the Gaza Strip.

According to State Information Service Egypt, a reliable official at Rafah crossing stated that the trucks, part of the "Zad Al-Izza from Egypt to Gaza" convoy, carry thousands of tons of humanitarian and relief supplies. These supplies include food baskets, fresh vegetables, medical supplies, medicines, personal care items, and petroleum products such as gasoline, natural gas, and diesel. Additionally, various shelter materials such as tents, blankets, and winter clothing are included.

The Egyptian Red Crescent has served as the national mechanism for coordinating and delivering aid to Gaza since the onset of the crisis in October 2023. Rafah terminal has remained operational throughout this period and continues to maintain readiness across its logistics centers, with 35,000 volunteers working to facilitate aid delivery.

Israeli forces closed all access points to Gaza on March 2, 2025, following the end of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, after failing to reach a deal to consolidate the truce. They violated the ceasefire with heavy airstrikes on March 18, 2025, and resumed ground incursions into areas of Gaza from which they had previously withdrawn.

The Israeli authorities also blocked the entry of humanitarian aid trucks, fuel, and shelter supplies for displaced families who lost their homes during the war on Gaza and refused to allow heavy equipment necessary for rubble removal and reconstruction.

Aid deliveries to Gaza resumed in May 2025 under a mechanism implemented by Israeli authorities and a U.S. security company. This was despite objections from the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which deemed the procedure inconsistent with international protocols.
