Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan Outlines Trkiye’s Role in Gaza Stabilization Efforts

Ankara: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has declared Trkiye's preparedness to take on its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip, including the potential deployment of troops, as part of a broader international stabilization effort.

According to Union of OIC News Agencies, Fidan made these remarks during a program on the Turkish channel A Haber, emphasizing the ongoing preparations for a draft resolution that will serve as an international legal framework for the powers and operations of the proposed international stabilization force in Gaza. This initiative, coordinated by the United States in collaboration with Israel, involves a civil-military cooperation center that could be the foundation for such a force.

Fidan reiterated Trkiye's commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities in Gaza, noting the country's readiness to contribute in various capacities, including military support, if necessary. He elaborated on the establishment of a peace committee and an international stabilization force in Gaza, highlighting active discussions on these plans, which involve consultations with the United States.

Trkiye's ongoing humanitarian efforts were also underscored by Fidan, who mentioned the continuous aid sent to Gaza, particularly through the port of El Arish in Egypt. He also reaffirmed Trkiye's support for the Sharm el-Sheikh agreement, a ceasefire arrangement in Gaza, while acknowledging its limitations in providing traditional guarantees.

Fidan stressed that the continuation of armed resistance is inevitable as long as occupation and injustice persist in Palestine. He conveyed that every Palestinian is expected to contribute to the resistance, a sentiment understood by the international community.

Furthermore, the Turkish minister mentioned the potential formation of a non-political committee to manage daily life in Gaza, with Hamas expressing its willingness to transfer administrative responsibilities to this proposed Palestinian committee.
