Third Round of Political Consultations between Egypt and C´te d’Ivoire Focuses on Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments

Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Emigration Dr. Badr Abdelatty, received on Monday, August 11th, 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs of C´te d'Ivoire, L©on Kacou Adom, where the third round of political consultations between the delegations of the two countries was convened to enhance bilateral relations and discuss regional developments of mutual interest.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdelatty commended the progress witnessed in Egyptian-Ivorian relations, reflected in the increased frequency of high-level visits and regular meetings between Egyptian Ministers and officials with their Ivorian counterparts. He noted the success of the second round of political consultations, held last October, which resulted in an agreement to elevate the consultations to the ministerial level.

Minister Abdelatty also praised the mutual keenness to strengthen bilateral relations in a manner that supports opportunities for cooperation and joint coordination in all political, economic, and investment fields, particularly in agriculture, livestock and fisheries, infrastructure and mining, health, transport, education and capacity building, as well as in the field of civil aviation and air services. He emphasized that such cooperation opens broader horizons for partnership between the two countries and serves their mutual interests. In this regard, Minister Abdelatty highlighted the capabilities and expertise of Egyptian companies in supporting development projects in Africa, including road and bridge construction and the localization of pharmaceutical industries.

With regard to capacity building, Minister Abdelatty stressed Egypt's readiness to support the Ivorian side in establishing an institute for diplomatic studies and to intensify cooperation and coordination to strengthen the capacities of West African countries in combating terrorism, in line with Egypt's vision for a comprehensive approach to counter-terrorism - addressing security, political, economic, social, and intellectual dimensions. He pointed to Egypt's extensive experience and the necessary tools for this, including the provision of field training programs for armed forces and police, dispatching Al-Azhar missions, and implementing programs to support peace and development through the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping, and Peacebuilding (CCCPA).

Minister Abdelatty affirmed Egypt's strong interest in achieving security and stability in the Sahel and West Africa, given the implications of instability in the region on neighboring states and its impact on Egypt's national security. The discussions also addressed developments in the Middle East, the Horn of Africa, and the Red Sea, as well as ways to promote peace, security, and stability across the African continent.

The two Ministers agreed to continue coordination and consultation within bilateral and multilateral frameworks, and to exchange nominations in regional and international fora. Minister Abdelatty, in this regard, expressed appreciation for C´te d'Ivoire's support for the candidacy of Dr. Khaled El-Anani for the post of Director-General of UNESCO. For his part, the Ivorian Foreign Minister commended Egypt's pivotal role in supporting and building the capacities of West African and Sahel states, as well as Egypt's relentless efforts to achieve a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensure the delivery of humanitarian and relief aid to the Palestinian people.

At the conclusion of the consultations, the two Ministers signed an agreement on the mutual exemption from entry visa requirements for holders of official passports, thereby facilitating the movement of individuals and officials between the two countries and strengthening their joint coordination, building on the bonds of African brotherhood.
