Amman: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad Badr Abdelatty and Algeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf praised the distinguished bilateral relations and historic ties between the two brotherly countries, as well as the remarkable progress they have witnessed in recent years.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the remarks came during a meeting held by the two ministers on Monday, June 22, 2026, on the sidelines of the resumed 165th regular session of the Council of the Arab League, currently taking place in the Jordanian capital, Amman. The ministers highlighted the outcomes of the ninth session of the Egyptian-Algerian Joint Higher Committee in Cairo last November, emphasizing the commitment of both sides to advancing cooperation across various fields.
Abdelatty stressed the importance Egypt places on following up with the implementation of the outcomes from the Egyptian-Algerian Joint Higher Committee. He noted the need to build upon agreements made during its meetings to enhance economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries.
On a regional level, both ministers emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultations on issues facing the region, particularly the Palestinian cause and the situation in Libya. Abdelatty praised the outcomes of a meeting of foreign ministers from the Tripartite Neighboring Countries Mechanism on Libya, hosted by Cairo on May 21. He underscored maintaining regular convening of this mechanism as crucial for supporting Libya's unity, preserving its national institutions, and enhancing its stability.
