Amman: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty underscored the distinctive nature of bilateral relations and the deep-rooted historical and people-to-people ties binding Egypt and Tunisia during talks with Tunisian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Mohamed Ali Nafti. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 165th ordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States, currently being held in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Abdelatty commended the positive momentum witnessed in relations between the two countries in recent years. He also hailed the outcomes of the 18th session of the Egyptian-Tunisian Joint Higher Committee, held in Cairo in September, noting that its results reflected the shared determination of both sides to elevate bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of following up on the implementation of the committee's outcomes and building on the agreements reached, with a view to further advancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries. The two ministers also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations in various fields and deepening economic and commercial cooperation.
Abdelatty also expressed Egypt's aspiration for broad and active participation in the investment forum to be hosted by Tunisia, noting that the event would help foster closer ties between the two countries' business communities and create new opportunities for joint investment and economic partnership.
On regional issues, the two sides stressed the importance of maintaining close coordination and consultation on the various challenges facing the region, foremost among them the Palestinian issue and developments in Libya. In this context, Abdelatty praised the outcomes of the meeting of foreign ministers of the Tripartite Neighboring Countries Mechanism on Libya, hosted by Cairo on May 21. He stressed the importance of ensuring the mechanism's regular convening as a key framework for supporting Libya's unity, preserving its national institutions, and promoting stability throughout the country.
