Cairo: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty engaged in discussions with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan on Sunday, June 21, 2026, concerning bilateral relations and regional and international matters of mutual interest. The meeting was conducted on the sidelines of a consultative gathering of four regional countries in Cairo.According to State Information Service Egypt, both ministers expressed satisfaction with the increasing momentum in relations between Egypt and Turkey across various domains. They reaffirmed their commitment to building on recent progress and emphasized the need to follow up on the outcomes of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting held in Cairo in February 2026. This meeting was co-chaired by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.The discussions also focused on enhancing bilateral coordination mechanisms. The ministers showed interest in convening the second meeting of th e joint planning group, led by both foreign ministers, in the near future. This meeting aims to deepen political coordination and broaden cooperation across multiple sectors.Both sides underscored the importance of bolstering trade and investment ties. Egypt highlighted opportunities within the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) and broader investment incentives, especially in the mining sector and other promising areas.The dialogue also addressed developments in US-Iran negotiations following a recent memorandum of understanding. Egypt stressed the significance of building on progress to alleviate regional tensions and support stability.Additionally, the ministers exchanged views on the situations in Libya, Sudan, and Syria, reaffirming their shared commitment to ongoing coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
