Sisi and Gambian President Discuss Bilateral Relations and Economic Cooperation

Cairo: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from the President of the Republic of The Gambia, Adama Barrow. The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that the call reviewed relations between Egypt and The Gambia and ways to enhance them, particularly in light of this year's celebration of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

According to State Information Service Egypt, President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation and coordination on various files of mutual interest. Both leaders agreed to advance bilateral relations across various fields, especially in the economic, developmental, and educational sectors.

The call also discussed prospects for boosting trade between the two countries and facilitating the participation of the private sector in efforts to develop economic and trade cooperation. This is in addition to exploring opportunities to expand the activities of Egyptian companies in The Gambia, particularly in the fields of infrastructure and construction.

The Gambian president expressed his appreciation for the level of existing cooperation in the health sector, praising the establishment of an Egyptian medical center in the capital, Banjul, and the Egyptian support provided in this regard.

The call touched on a number of regional issues, including the latest developments in West Africa and the Sahel region. President El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt's firm stance in support of achieving stability in the region. The President reiterated the need for concerted efforts to face challenges and end conflicts, while respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states.

The President also highlighted Egypt's ongoing efforts to resolve various regional crises. Both parties agreed to strengthen counter-terrorism cooperation in order to maintain regional security and stability.
