Egypt and US Explore Investment and Desalination Collaboration

Cairo: Housing Minister Randa El Menshawy and U.S. Charg© d'Affaires Robert Silverman discussed on Monday, August 10, 2026, ways to expand bilateral cooperation in housing, urban development, and infrastructure.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the talks focused on investment opportunities in Egypt's new cities and potential cooperation in seawater desalination, including the use of advanced technologies and expertise in the sector. El Menshawy emphasized that Egypt's expanding urban development projects offer opportunities for partnerships with U.S. companies and international institutions, which could help attract investment and facilitate the transfer of modern technologies.

Silverman expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the Housing Ministry and U.S. companies, highlighting Egypt's growing investment potential and major urban development projects. The discussions underscored the mutual benefits of such collaborations, aiming to foster economic growth and technological advancement in both nations.

The two sides agreed to maintain coordination and communication in the coming period to explore new areas of joint cooperation, marking a positive step toward strengthening the strategic partnership between Egypt and the United States.
