Cairo: Government is implementing a comprehensive programme to restructure state-owned companies, improve productivity and operational and financial efficiency, and maximize economic returns, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Hussein Issa said on Monday.According to State Information Service Egypt, Issa made the remarks during a meeting with Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Mohamed Farid Saleh, and senior government officials. The meeting focused on reviewing proposals for reorganizing the oversight of several holding companies and their subsidiaries in the public business sector.Issa stated that the government is prioritizing better use and management of state-owned assets and identifying promising investment opportunities. These opportunities are intended for partnerships capable of generating real added value.The government also aims to expand private-sector participation across economic activities, viewing the private sector as a key partner in boosting investment, production, and employment, Issa explained.He further noted that the proposed restructuring is aimed at strengthening corporate governance, improving decision-making and asset management, and helping state-owned companies attract investment and support sustainable growth.Importantly, Issa clarified that the changes will not affect companies' operating or development plans, ongoing projects, or productivity programmes. Operations would continue normally, and existing projects would proceed as planned.
