Prime Minister Madbouly Reviews Development Projects in Beni Suef

Beni suef: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly reaffirmed the government's commitment to closely monitoring the implementation of service and development projects across all governorates to assess progress rates, identify challenges, and remove obstacles to accelerate completion and ensure projects achieve their goals of improving citizens' quality of life.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting on Thursday, June 11, 2026, to review the executive status of development and service projects in Beni Suef Governorate. The meeting was attended by Minister of Local Development and Environment Manal Awad and Beni Suef Governor Abdullah Abdel Aziz.

Awad highlighted Beni Suef's strategic location as the closest governorate in Northern Upper Egypt to Greater Cairo. The governorate comprises seven districts, 40 local units, and 225 villages, possessing significant economic and human resources that position it as a competitive production hub at both regional and international levels. She noted that Beni Suef enjoys a diverse mix of archaeological and tourism destinations, expanding industrial and investment zones, and promising sectors including agriculture, transport, logistics, telecommunications, and small and medium-sized enterprises.

Governor Abdel Aziz reviewed the governorate's sustainable development vision, first launched in 2020 and updated in March 2026 in line with Egypt Vision 2030, the government's program, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. He explained that the strategy is based on three key pillars: improving quality of life, achieving economic development, and enhancing governance.

The governor said efforts to improve the quality of life focus on completing infrastructure and public service projects, particularly those implemented under the presidential "Decent Life" initiative. Regarding economic development, he noted that Beni Suef has formulated an economic development strategy built on sectors where the governorate enjoys competitive advantages, making it an attractive investment destination and a key contributor to the national economy.

Abdel Aziz pointed to major transportation projects, including 453 roads extending more than 2,300 kilometers, in addition to stations and routes for the high-speed electric railway, a dry port, a vehicle market, and a tourist marina. In agriculture, he said cultivated land in the governorate covers about 296,000 feddans, including more than 116,000 feddans planted with wheat. Wheat deliveries this season reached 327,168 tons, representing 145 percent of the targeted volume and exceeding last year's deliveries by 40,000 tons.

The governor also noted that Beni Suef has approximately 18,330 feddans devoted to medicinal and aromatic plants. Concerning industry, Abdel Aziz said the governorate hosts 11 integrated industrial zones, including Kom Abu Radi Industrial Zone with 234 factories and Bayad Al-Arab Industrial Zone with 365 factories, in addition to an integrated medicinal and aromatic plants zone spanning 147 feddans.

He added that Beni Suef also boasts archaeological, Coptic, and Islamic heritage sites, natural reserves, and tourism destinations, while continuing to implement projects aimed at strengthening infrastructure, digital transformation, and telecommunications services. The governor noted that small and medium-sized enterprises in the governorate have received financing worth approximately EGP 8 billion, supporting around 209,000 projects and creating about 330,000 jobs.

Abdel Aziz also reviewed recent achievements, including environmental cleanup campaigns, the rehabilitation of homes for underprivileged families, the establishment of the governorate's first integrated shelter for stray dogs, free medical convoys, discounted food exhibitions, and social support initiatives targeting vulnerable households. He highlighted efforts to strengthen field inspections, improve citizen engagement, and enhance responsiveness through the government complaints system, which recorded a response rate of 99.54 percent for approximately 34,000 complaints.

On investment, the governor said the province continues to improve industrial infrastructure, attract investors, and market investment opportunities through the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones. He reviewed several ongoing and planned investment projects, including an integrated zone for medicinal and aromatic plants and agro-processing, a commercial center and wholesale market complex, a hypermarket project, and future projects such as a commercial mall, the Sannur Cave tourism project, and a Nile tourist marina.

The medicinal and aromatic plants investment zone, which covers 1,000 feddans, aims to shift from exporting raw products to local manufacturing and value-added processing, boosting exports, attracting investment, and creating employment opportunities. The governor also outlined progress under the first phase of the presidential "Decent Life" initiative, which targets 66 main villages and their affiliated communities. A total of 1,086 projects have been implemented so far across various sectors.

Regarding reconciliation and legalization procedures, Abdel Aziz said 68,269 applications had been submitted between February and June 2026, with the governorate achieving a completion rate of 98.5 percent. He added that efforts to encourage citizens to finalize their files had resulted in 5,828 additional applications and completions. He also noted that 4,503 commercial establishments have obtained licenses out of 7,893 applications submitted as of June 9, 2026.
