Cairo: Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received President Sadyr Japarov of the Kyrgyz Republic.
According to State Information Service Egypt, an official reception ceremony was held, where national anthems were played, and the two leaders inspected the guard of honor. The ceremony concluded with a commemorative photo session.
President El-Sisi held a closed session with President Japarov, which was later expanded to include delegations from both countries. During the meeting, two memoranda of understanding were signed, marking a significant step in bilateral relations. This visit is noted as the first by a Kyrgyz president to Egypt, underlining its historic importance.
President El-Sisi welcomed President Japarov, emphasizing the importance of this visit in opening new avenues for cooperation. He highlighted Egypt's interest in strengthening bilateral ties in various domains and applauded Kyrgyzstan's decision to establish an embassy in Cairo. This strategic move is expected to enhance economic, trade, and investment relations.
Discussions also included the coordination of the Joint Governmental Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation to institutionalize follow-up on the outcomes of the visit. This step aims to build upon the existing political relationship between the two countries.
President Japarov expressed his enthusiasm for his visit to Cairo and congratulated President El-Sisi on the Grand Egyptian Museum's opening. He reiterated Kyrgyzstan's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and acknowledged Egypt's pivotal role in the Middle East and Africa.
The meeting addressed the potential engagement of Egyptian companies in Kyrgyzstan's development projects, particularly in the infrastructure sector. Discussions also focused on enhancing trade, investment, and opportunities for joint manufacturing. Additionally, cooperation between religious institutions in both countries to counter extremist ideologies was explored.
The leaders discussed political developments and regional issues, with President El-Sisi outlining Egypt's efforts to maintain the Gaza Strip ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid. He announced Egypt's plan to host an international conference on Gaza's recovery and reconstruction.
President Japarov appreciated Egypt's role in achieving the ceasefire agreement and emphasized the importance of its implementation. He also shared insights on Central Asia's developments, highlighting challenges and opportunities in the region amidst international changes.
