PM Reviews Progress on West Port Said Port Development

Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli conducted an inspection of the first phase of the comprehensive development plan of the West Port Said Port during a field tour of the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).

According to State Information Service Egypt, the tour included key figures such as Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel el Wazir, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Sherif Farouk, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabie, and SCZone Chairman Walid Gamal El Din.

Gamal El Din highlighted that the development of the port is aimed at establishing its significance as a pivotal hub on the Mediterranean Sea, enhancing its role in regional and international trade logistics. Phase one of the project involves the rehabilitation and paving of internal roads spanning 165,000 square meters, along with the redesign of traffic routes informed by advanced mobility studies to facilitate better truck access and exit.

He further explained that an 18-kilometer fiber optic network has been established, linking five main data centers. Additionally, a new Port Management System (PMS) has been launched to support the single-window system adopted by the SCZone.

Gamal El Din also reported the completion of 8 kilometers of wastewater and rainwater drainage systems, complemented by a comprehensive firefighting network featuring 111 hydrants, 365 cubic meters of water tanks, and pumps with a capacity of 1,000 gallons per minute. He noted that exports from the SCZone have reached $2.4 billion, with 2025 marking a series of inaugurations across ports and logistic zones.
