PM Witnesses Inking of Deal to Supply 21 Trains for Alex Metro

Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli has witnessed the signing of an agreement to supply 21 metro train units with a total of 189 carriages for the Alexandria Metro Project. The deal was inked during the premier's visit to the factory of the National Egyptian Railway Industries Company (NERIC) in Port Said. The event was attended by Kamel El Wazir, Transport and Industry Minister, and Walid Gamal Eddin, head of the General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone).

According to State Information Service Egypt, the deal is valued at approximately 275 million euros. It includes the supply of spare parts, equipment, and maintenance services for a period of 10 years, with the entire contract set to last 38 months. The contract was signed by Tarek Gowaily, president of the National Authority for Tunnels, and Ahmed El Mofti, managing director of NERIC.

The premier emphasized that the deal was signed following directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. The aim is to expand environmentally friendly transport networks to benefit citizens, aligning with the Transport Ministry's plans to implement several green transport projects in the Alexandria governorate.
