Planning Minister and NMA Head Discuss Mechanisms for Settling Debts to NIB

Cairo: Minister of Planning and Economic Development Ahmed Rostom engaged in discussions with Ahmed el Moslemany, Chairman of the National Media Authority (NMA), focusing on collaborative efforts to address and settle the NMA's longstanding debts to the National Investment Bank (NIB). The discussions were aimed at resolving financial interdependencies between the two entities.According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting, held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, was attended by key figures including Assistant Minister for Technical Office Affairs and Supervisor of the Minister's Office Sector Kamal Nasr, Acting Managing Director of the National Investment Bank Dalia Moustafa, and several officials from both the NIB and the NMA.Rostom emphasized that the meeting aligns with the directives from the political leadership to expedite the resolution of financial entanglements between the NIB and the NMA. He noted that Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly is closely monitoring the procedures related to this cri tical issue, alongside efforts to support the NMA's development plans.Rostom highlighted the progress in settling the NIB's historical debts, which is part of a comprehensive restructuring plan. This plan aims to enhance the bank's financial standing, maximize returns on its assets, and enable it to fulfill its strategic role in development finance. The restructuring is also intended to support the state's broader economic and social development goals.Moslemany expressed gratitude to the minister for the support in the settlement process and for the cooperation with the NMA. He pointed out that the government's swift actions demonstrate a commitment to resolving accumulated issues, thereby facilitating efforts to modernize the NMA and strengthen its institutional capabilities and public-service role.
