Cairo: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly convened a meeting to evaluate the progress of key investment projects in the Port Said Governorate, with significant attendance from Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development, the Acting Minister of Environment, and Major General Mohab Habashi, Governor of Port Said.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the governor initiated his presentation with an update on the development of the Port Said Hotel "Helnan." This hotel, strategically positioned at the northeastern tip of Africa where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Suez Canal, spans an area of 58,396 square meters and offers 202 rooms and suites. The hotel comprises several facilities, including a main building, a suite building, 26 commercial shops, a swimming pool, an open play area, and an events hall.
Major General Mohab Habashi discussed proposals from various companies interested in investing in the Port Said Hotel development to expand its current capacity by adding more rooms and commercial shops. The aim is to attract renowned brands and enhance the hotel's service offerings, establishing it as a premier tourist destination.
The governor also outlined plans for revitalizing the Port Said Lighthouse area, emphasizing the need for supervision by the Supreme Council of Antiquities. Established in 1869, this historical site covers 4,195.88 square meters and proposals are underway to rejuvenate the lighthouse and its surroundings.
A major project highlighted was the construction of a global hotel in collaboration with the Suez Canal Authority. Additionally, the governor pointed out investment opportunities in the Khan El-Khalili area, which hosts more than 46 residential towers. There are proposals to develop integrated residential projects with modern architectural designs.
Concluding the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouly instructed the formation of a committee comprising members from relevant ministries and authorities to meticulously examine all investment proposals. This committee will include representatives from the Ministries of Tourism and Antiquities, Investment and Foreign Trade, Finance, the Administrative Control Authority, the Council of Ministers' Advisors, and a representative from Port Said Governorate.
