New capital: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli announced the government's ongoing efforts to enhance services provided to citizens, with a particular emphasis on health and education sectors, in the upcoming fiscal year budget for 2026-2027. These initiatives are intended to achieve the targeted human development goals.
According to State Information Service Egypt, this announcement was made during a meeting at the government headquarters in the New Capital, where Madbouli met with Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk to discuss and review the initial estimates for the fiscal year 2026-2027 budget. Madbouli indicated that the new budget aligns with the government's strategy to implement a balanced fiscal policy that aims to meet key economic objectives while maintaining financial discipline.
During the meeting, Kouchouk presented the initial budget estimates, outlining key priorities and medium-term fiscal policies. These policies emphasize forming a new partnership with the business community, aiming to rebuild confidence, improve services, and provide clarity and certainty. This will be accomplished through additional tax and customs incentives, expanding the tax base without imposing extra burdens on citizens or businesses, and incorporating new taxpayers into a simplified system.
The medium-term fiscal priorities also include a balanced fiscal policy aimed at boosting growth rates and economic activity, achieving the desired growth rates in the 2026-2027 budget, stabilizing inflation, and reducing the budget deficit. A strategy will be implemented to enhance debt service indicators and target an extended debt maturity profile.
Kouchouk stressed that the upcoming fiscal priorities are focused on creating adequate financial space to bolster social protection and human development efforts. This involves increasing allocations for the health and education sectors, as well as initiatives like the Takaful and Karama programs, social security, rural women's initiatives, child allowances, and many other programs aimed at improving the quality of services provided to citizens across various sectors.
