Petroleum Minister Orders Action Against Workers for Safety Violations at UAE Project

Abu dhabi: Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi ordered administrative measures to be taken against two workers after they were found violating occupational health and safety regulations during his inspection tour of a project being carried out by the Engineering for the Petroleum and Process Industries Company (ENPPI) in the UAE.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Badawi reviewed health and safety procedures at the site and was briefed by project officials on industrial safety measures and workers' compliance with personal protective equipment requirements and safe working practices. The statement noted that the Minister observed that two workers were not wearing the required personal protective equipment, which was described as a clear breach of occupational health and safety regulations.

Badawi immediately instructed officials to take the necessary administrative action against the workers, stressing that employee safety is an absolute priority that allows no exceptions or negligence. He emphasized that full compliance with safety procedures is both a professional and ethical responsibility aimed at protecting lives and ensuring the safe and efficient continuation of operations.

"Any breach of safety regulations will be dealt with firmly to safeguard workers and production sites," he added. Badawi stated that the Petroleum Ministry follows a clear policy of strictly enforcing occupational health and safety standards at all work sites inside and outside Egypt, describing worker safety as a fundamental pillar of operational efficiency and sustainable performance. He added that protecting human resources would remain the petroleum sector's top priority.
