Minya Attracts Multinational Tourist Group to Archaeological Sites

Cairo: Minya Governorate received a multinational tourist group who visited the archaeological sites of Beni Hassan and Tell el Amarna, amid notable tourist activities witnessed by the governorate ahead of the new tourism season, Minya Governor Emad Kedwany said on Sunday, August 16, 2026.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the visit aimed to introduce the tourists to Minya's rich archaeological and cultural heritage that reflects an important chapter of ancient Egyptian history, said the governor. In a statement, Kedwany remarked that Minya boasts a diverse array of unique archaeological sites spanning different historical and cultural periods, making it an important destination for cultural tourism enthusiasts from around the world.

He also noted that the governorate has recently seen an increase in tourist groups visiting its archaeological areas as the tourism season approaches. This trend supports efforts to promote Minya as a tourist destination, attract more visitors, and boost tourism activity, he added.

Meanwhile, the governor emphasized the importance of maximizing the benefit from the governorate's distinctive historical and cultural assets.
