Cairo: Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hani Sweilem recently received a comprehensive report from Engineer Yasser El-Shabrakhiti, Head of the Reservoirs and Major Barrages Sector, concerning the current status of the "National Project for the Rehabilitation of Water Facilities."
According to State Information Service Egypt, Sweilem emphasized that the rehabilitation of water facilities is crucial for advancing the water distribution system, transitioning from traditional water level-based methods to a more efficient flow rate approach. This initiative is part of the broader objectives set under the second generation of the Water System 2.0.
The Ministry, drawing from a detailed database of 60,000 water facilities, has embarked on the "Water Facilities Rehabilitation" project. The first two phases, which involved assessing the condition of existing facilities, have been successfully completed. Efforts are now focused on the third phase of the project.
Sweilem assured that the maintenance and replacement activities are progressing according to the planned schedules. He highlighted the importance of adhering to all relevant standards and specifications to ensure high-quality outcomes.
The minister also stressed the ongoing monitoring of quality control measures. Necessary tests are being conducted to confirm compliance with all standards, specifications, and technical requirements, ensuring that the project delivers the anticipated benefits in line with the established plan.
