FM in Beirut to Deliver 1,000 Tons of Relief Aid to Lebanon

Beirut: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty, following presidential directives, arrived in Beirut on Thursday 26/3/2026 to deliver a shipment of humanitarian aid weighing about 1,000 tons at the Port of Beirut. Lebanese Public Works and Transport Minister Faiz Rassamni and Social Affairs Minister Hanin Al-Sayyed attended the aid delivery ceremony.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the shipment provides urgent support to Lebanon in addressing escalating health and humanitarian challenges and easing the internal displacement crisis. ‘The shipment, prepared by Egyptian state and civil society institutions, includes medicines, shelter supplies, and food baskets to assist authorities in meeting the needs of over one million displaced people,’ Foreign Ministry spokesman Tamim Khalaf said.

Abdelatty strongly condemned Israel’s systematic targeting of Lebanese civilian infrastructure, destruction of bridges and homes, and forced evacuations, describing these acts as collective punishment and serious violations of international humanitarian law. He reaffirmed Egypt’s full opposition to these violations and support for Lebanese President Michel Aoun’s initiative for a diplomatic settlement through direct talks under international supervision.

The minister stressed that genuine peace requires real political guarantees, reiterating Egypt’s call for an immediate halt to Israeli attacks, full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and enabling Lebanese state institutions to exercise authority across the country.
