Egypt: Egypt will host on Monday, September 7, 2026, the 12th conference of officials responsible for human rights in Arab interior ministries, under the auspices of Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfik.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the conference will bring together representatives of interior ministries from Arab countries, as well as officials from the Arab League, the Arab Human Rights Committee, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the European Border and Coast Guard Agency (FRONTEX), the General Secretariat of the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions, Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, and the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.

The conference will discuss a number of key issues on its agenda, including the organizational structure of human rights departments within Arab interior ministries, security protection of the rights of cybercrime victims, and public police services from a human rights perspective. It will also review the experiences of Arab interior ministries in the field of human rights.

During the conference, certificates will be presented to the winners of a research competition for Arab security personnel on human rights, organized by Egypt's Interior Ministry in cooperation with the Arab Office for Security Awareness, Media and Human Rights.
